Herpetiles - Lizards

Herpetiles, or the Amphibian and Reptile group of animals comprising snakes, newts and lizards.

The UK has few lizard species, withthe common or viviparous lizard and slow-worm being predominant.  A rarity is the sand lizard, which I have been to photograph, but so far only sightings have resulted.

Slow worm     Anguis fragilis

Quite common legless lizard usually found in mature gardens hiding under logs, or on sandy paths along woodland rides or heathland.

All my slow worm  photographs  have been taken in Gloucestershire.
