Herpetiles
- Amphibians - frogs and toads
Herpetiles, or the Amphibian and Reptile group
of animals comprise snakes, newts and lizards.
Within the amphibian group, we have frogs, toads, newts
and salamanders:

Pelophylax (Rana)

Introduced into Kent in 1935 and
has since adapted very well. This photography
suspect was found in a gloomy

Forest of Dean, UK, March. I've never seen so many frogs...several hundred,
all full of character and well worth a photograph.

Common
toad
Bufo bufo
Common toads are often hated, maybe due to their
nocturnal habits, warts and associations with witches
and nursery rhymes - such is the power of early
conditioning in us! I find them comical.
