Tawny Owl 3
Tawny
owl
(Strix aluco)
Almost everyone will have heard the twit-twoo of a tawny
owl, but seeing one is a real stroke of luck. I
can't say I've seen that many either, and when I do they
tend to fly away or higher up into the tree making a
photo impossible.
Back in 2001 a tawny owl began to visit the edge of the
River Soar in Leicestershire very close to my home and
this is when I got some of my best photos to date.
I suspect it has a kill in the photo above due to its
wings being down, but it flew away without giving me a
good look.
