Dipper  Cinclus cinclus

Adult and juvenile dipper photographed in the Forest of Dean, May.  There are just a few breeding pairs of dipper where I live and they are all difficult to photograph due to very dark and challenging (ie wet) conditions. Only early during their breeding cycle does light penetrate enough throught the tree canopy to make things a little easier. Once the chicks fledge (lower photo) the youngsters seem to have little fear of people.
